[0001] FIELD OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to the field of vehicle trim elements, especially motor vehicles, and in particular backlit trim elements.
[0002] FR2920717A1 discloses a backlighting element comprising a base body and a coating delimiting an opaque zone and a translucent zone, the coating comprising a coating sheet fixed to the base body by overmolding. FR2945992A1 discloses a backlighting element comprising a transparent facade covered on each of its faces by a film having a determined pattern and / or a specific color. One of the aims of the invention is to provide a backlit vehicle body which has different visual effects depending on the lighting. For this purpose, the invention proposes a vehicle trim element, the trim element having a panel comprising at least one colored mask having solid zones and at least one opening delimiting a pattern, and a colored screen transmitting the light and closing the or each opening of the mask, the mask and the screen being substantially the same color, so that the pattern is visible when the panel is backlit and substantially invisible in the absence of backlight. According to particular embodiments, the covering element comprises one or more of the following characteristics, taken individually or in any technically possible combination: the screen is formed of a colored substrate in the mass, the mask being formed by at least one ink layer applied to the screen; the mask is formed of a colored substrate in the mass, the screen being formed by at least one layer of ink applied to the mask; the mask and the screen are formed of at least one ink layer, in particular from one to ten layers of ink; - the screen transmits more light than the full areas of the mask; the mask is made of an opaque material or a light-transmitting material; it comprises a light-transmitting support, preferably colorless, the panel covering the support; the support forms a light guide and comprises a light entry for injecting light into the support; the panel comprises a light-transmitting and colorless support film, the mask and the screen being formed on the support film; it comprises a sensing sensor disposed against the rear face of the panel to detect an interaction of a user with one or more interaction zones of the front face of the panel; the mask forms a respective elementary pattern in each of the interaction zones; it comprises a respective light source for the backlighting of each interaction zone and opaque partitions separating the light sources; the screen is formed of at least one layer of ink, in particular from one to ten layers of ink; and - the mask is made in a first material, and the screen is made of a second material transmitting more light than the first material. The invention also relates to a motor vehicle comprising a cladding element as defined above. The invention and its advantages will be better understood on reading the description which will follow, given solely by way of example, and with reference to the appended drawings, in which: FIG. 1 is a diagrammatic sectional view of a cladding element according to a first embodiment; - Figure 2 is a schematic sectional view of a cladding element according to a second embodiment; - Figure 3 is a schematic sectional view of a dressing assembly according to a third embodiment; - Figure 4 is a schematic sectional view of a dressing assembly according to a fourth embodiment; and - Figure 5 is a schematic sectional view of a dressing assembly according to a fifth embodiment. The vehicle trim element 2 illustrated in Figure 1 is for example a vehicle interior trim, intended to dress the passenger compartment of a vehicle, particularly a motor vehicle.
[0003] The covering element 2 is for example designed to dress a dashboard, an interior door trim, a roof sky, a seat back, a console, ... The trim element 2 comprises a panel 4 decorative clean to produce different lighting effects according to the lighting. The panel 4 comprises a front face 4A intended to be visible and a rear face 4B opposite to the front face 4A. The panel 4 is multilayer and comprises several layers superimposed between its front face 4A and its rear face 4B.
[0004] The panel 4 comprises a layer formed by a colored mask 6 made in a first material. The mask 6 has solid areas 7 and at least one opening 8, here several openings 8. The solid areas 7 extend between the openings 8. The openings 8 allow the passage of light through the mask 6. The openings 8 delimit a pattern, visible on the visible side 4A when the panel 4 is backlit. The mask 6 forms a discontinuous layer of the panel 4. The panel 4 comprises a layer formed by at least one colored screen, here a single screen 10, made in a second material transmitting visible light. The screen 10 closes the openings 8 of the mask 6. The screen 10 is in the path of the light passing through the openings 8 of the rear face 4B to the front face 4A. The screen 10 forms a continuous layer of the panel 4. The mask 6 and the screen 10 form two superposed layers of the panel 4, the screen 10 closing the openings 8 of the mask 6. The screen 10 transmits more visible light than the solid areas 7 of the mask 6.
[0005] The first material of the mask 6 is preferably opaque, so that the light passes through the mask 6 only through its openings 8. As a variant, the first material of the mask 6 transmits the light, but more light passes through the openings 8 7. The first material of the mask 6 is then transparent or translucent.
[0006] Preferably, the second material transmits more visible light than the first material. The second material has a light transmittance in the visible range that is greater than that of the first material over most of the visible range. The first material is opaque or transmits light. The second material transmits light. The second material is transparent or translucent.
[0007] The mask 6 and the screen 10 are formed for example of ink. Each of the mask 6 and the screen 10 is formed of an ink layer or of several superimposed ink layers. The mask 6 is for example formed from one to ten layers of a first opaque ink. The screen 10 is formed for example from one to ten layers of a second translucent ink.
[0008] The total average light transmission rate of the screen 10 formed from one to ten layers of translucent ink is for example between 3% and 15% and preferably between 5% and 10%. Due to the superimposition of the screen 10 and the mask 6, it follows that backlighting the panel 4 passes more easily through the panel 4 opposite the openings 8 of the mask 6 as compared to the solid areas 7 of the mask 6. Thus, the pattern is visible from the side of the front panel 4A when the panel 4 is backlit.
[0009] The first material and the second material are substantially the same color, and preferably substantially the same color. In the absence of backlight, the mask 6 and the screen 10 appear on the side of the visible side 4A of the same color and with the same brightness. The panel 4 has a unicolour and uniform visual appearance. Thus, the pattern is substantially invisible or imperceptible to a user. The aforementioned transmission rate ranges provide a good compromise between the uniformity effect in the absence of backlighting and the power of the light source needed to make the pattern visible when the panel is backlit. The panel 4 comprises a layer formed by a support film 12 which transmits the light. The support film 12 is transparent or translucent. The support film 12 is preferably colorless. The support film 12 forms a continuous layer of the panel 4. The covering element 2 comprises a support 14 defining the shape of the covering element 2. The panel 4 is fixed on the support 14, the front face 4A of the panel being turned away from the support 14. The support 14 transmits the light. The support 14 is translucent or transparent. The support 14 is preferably colorless. The covering element 2 comprises a light source 16 for backlit the rear face 4B of the panel 4 through the support 14. The light source is here provided in the form of a sheet of optical fibers 16 arranged along the support 14 on the side opposite the panel 4. In known manner, the optical fibers 16 are provided to diffuse light laterally to the rear face 4B of the panel 4. The optical fibers 16 are connected at least at one end to a light source As a variant, it is possible to use other light sources, such as one or more incandescent, neon bulbs or one or more light-emitting diodes. When backlighting the panel 4, the light passes more easily through the areas of the panel 4 corresponding to the openings 8 of the mask 6 and the pattern defined by these openings 8 is visible to a user looking at the front face 4A. In the absence of backlighting, the mask 6 and the screen 10 of the same color gives the panel 4 a uniform and unicoloured appearance, the pattern being substantially invisible. This allows to cause an optical effect improving the perceived quality of the dressing. In the embodiment of FIG. 1, the panel 4 is formed for example by depositing one or more films of a first ink on the support film 12 to form the mask 6 and then depositing one or more films a second ink covering the mask 6 to form the screen 10. During the deposition of the screen 10, the second ink fills the openings 8. The panel 4 is then fixed on the support 14 by overmolding the support 14 on the panel 4. To do this, the panel 4 is inserted into a mold, and then the material is molded by compression or injection into the mold to form the support 14. The embodiments of Figures 1 to 3 differ from that of FIG. 1 by the arrangement of the mask 6 and the screen 10. In the embodiment of Figure 1, the mask 6 is deposited on the support film 12, then the screen 10 is deposited on the mask 6. It results that the mask 6 is adjacent to the front face 4A and the screen 10 is adjacent to the fac e rear 4B. When the screen 10 is deposited, the second ink fills the openings 8. This is favorable to the uniform appearance of the panel 4 on the side of the visible side 4A when the backlight is off. In the embodiment of FIG. 2, the screen 10 is formed on the support film 12, then the mask 6 is deposited on the screen 10 on the opposite side to the support film 12. As a result, the mask 6 is located adjacent to the rear face 4B and the screen 10 is adjacent to the front face 4A. As illustrated in FIG. 2, the material of the support 14 fills the openings 8 of the mask 6, for example because of the overmoulding of the support 14 on the panel 4. The material of the support 14 comes into contact with the screen 10 through the openings 8 of the mask 6. In the embodiment of Figure 3, the panel 4 comprises two screens 10 sandwiching the mask 6. The panel 4 is obtained by depositing successively on the support film 12, in superposition, a first screen 10, the mask 6 and a second screen 10. During the deposition of the second screen 10, the second material fills the openings 8 of the mask 6. In the embodiments of Figures 2 and 3, the screen 10 forms a uniform continuous layer on the side of the front panel 4A, which is favorable to the uniform appearance of the panel 4 on the side of the front panel 4A when the backlight is off. The embodiment of Figure 4 differs from those of Figures 1 to 3 by providing the backlight. In the embodiments of Figures 1 to 3, a light source illuminates a face of the support 14 opposite the panel 4. In the embodiment of Figure 4, the support 14 forms a light guide. It comprises a light inlet 17 for the injection of light into the support 14 in such a way that the light propagates in the support 14 along the rear face 4B of the panel 4.
[0010] The support 14 comprises internal reliefs 18 for deflecting the light propagating in the support 14 to make it exit to the openings 8 of the mask 6 of the panel 4. Internal reliefs 18 are for example provided in the form of facets 20 oriented from in such a way that rays coming from the light entry 17, and striking a facet, are deflected towards an opening 8. In the embodiment of FIG. 4, the mask 6 and the screen 10 are similar to those of FIG. 1. Alternatively, they are made as those of the cladding elements of Figure 2 or Figure 3. In the embodiments of Figures 1 to 4, the mask 6 and the screen 10 are formed of inks. In the embodiment of Figure 5, the panel 4 comprises a screen 10 formed by a colored substrate in the mass and conferring its shape to the panel 6. The mask 6 is formed by an ink layer deposited on the screen 10 on the side of the rear face 4B of the panel 4. The panel 4 further comprises a protective film 22 covering the screen 10 on the side of the visible face of the panel 4. Furthermore, the covering element comprises a capacitive sensor 24 applied against the rear face 4B of the panel 4. In known manner, the capacitive sensor 24 is formed of a sheet 26 covered with electrodes enabling the capacitive sensor 24 to detect, through the panel 4, interactions with zones of predefined interaction of panel 4, each interaction locally modifying the electromagnetic field. The sheet 26 transmits the light. The sheet 26 is transparent or translucent. The electrodes are formed by an ink deposited on the sheet 26. The mask 6 defines in each interaction zone 28 a respective elementary pattern. The capacitive sensor 24 is for example suitable for detecting the contact of a finger with the front face 4A of the panel 4, on an interaction zone 28. The covering element 2 comprises an individual light source 30 for each zone 28. Each light source 30 is arranged to backlight the associated interaction zone 28. The cladding element 2 comprises opaque partitions 32 disposed between the light sources 30, so that each light source 30 only backlashes the associated interaction zone 28. The light sources are, for example, light emitting diodes. The covering element 2 comprises an electronic unit 34 connected to the capacitive sensor 24 to determine an interaction with each interaction zone 28. The electronic unit 34 is also connected to the light sources 30.
[0011] In the embodiment of FIG. 5, in the absence of backlighting, each interaction zone 28 has a uniform appearance, the interaction pattern being invisible due to the similar colors of the mask 6 and the screen 10. In the presence of a backlight, the interaction pattern appears as a light pattern. The covering element 2 forms, for example, a control assembly for controlling the functional components of the vehicle to which the electronic unit 34 is connected. The interaction patterns represent control patterns. The interaction patterns are, for example, invisible when the vehicle is de-energized, and appear when the vehicle is turned on by ignition of the light sources 30. In an alternative embodiment of the trim element 2 of the 5, the mask 6 is made in a colored substrate in the mass, and the screen 10, formed for example of ink, covers the mask 6. Thanks to the invention, it is possible to obtain a dressing element Backlit showing a pattern when the backlight is active, the pattern being invisible or virtually invisible to the user when the backlight is inactive. This makes it possible to give the dressing element a particular effect, which increases the perceived quality. The mask and the screen are advantageously black so that the panel appears uniformly black in the absence of backlighting and that the light pattern appears in the presence of backlight. The black color is particularly effective to make the pattern invisible in the absence of backlight. It also confers a high perceived quality.
